MIAMI PLANTS AND FRUITS
Zone
Ten Nursery
Five acres of garden, plant nursery and tropical fruit trees in
South Florida. Originated in the early 80's with their collection
of rare and interesting plants gathered from tropical and subtropical
areas around the world. They opened in 1993. The owners are full-time
researchers - one in human neurology, one in plant pathology -
but who still find some time to propagate unusual tropical and
sub-tropical plants. A fair number of these plants (over 150 species)
are available for sale to the public on Saturdays. Hard to find
and unusual tropical plants.
Pine
Island Fruit Nursery
Founded in 1972. Fifty acre family owned and operated facility
is located twenty-five miles southwest of downtown Miami in an
upland pine habitat, for which the nursery was named. Began as
a wholesale supplier of rare palms, fine indoor foliage, and citrus
trees, but today’s product line is very different. The nursery
now specializes solely in tropical fruit trees and primarily caters
to commercial fruit growers in Florida. However, certifications
are held for Texas, Arizona, California, and Europe, and the nursery
remains an active exporter to commercial fruit growers and nurseries
around the globe. The mission is to provide growers with the highest
quality commercially viable fruit trees in the world, while offering
landscapers and homeowners the finest selections of rare and unusual
fruit trees suitable to more suburban environments.
Going
Bananas
Five acres nursery/grove is devoted to growing nearly 100 varieties
of banana plants and multiple cultivars of lychee and longan trees.
Because they specialize in these plants only, they can give you
the very best quality of plant material at economical prices.
They grow the plants ourselves and oversee every aspect of the
growing, plant selection, and shipping. Banana plant varieties
and lychees & longan trees can be purchased on location, along
with banana blend fertilizer. Mail order items are limited to
banana plants and corms.
